About MERCY CORPS MONGOLIA
Our Mission
Mercy Corps’ mission is to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive, and just communities across the globe
Country Goal To help communities mobilize resources to meet their economic and social needs thereby increasing their resiliency in a rapidly changing environment
What We Do Mercy Corps Mongolia works to achieve sustainable change in three strategic, inter-related program areas that contribute to the Agency’s overall country goal:
- Inclusive Growth - Increased local availability of business development services (BDS) and improved productivityand income with maximum “institutionalization” of key program concepts and services within the local economy. This results in people who are not only able to support themselves and their families but also thrive; communities that are able to lead sustainable development for their own social and economic well-being; and an active private sector and inclusive markets (supported by economic infrastructure) that generate increased incomes for the poor.
- Good Governance - Enhanced ability of rural communities to make informed economic and social decisions and to participate in public sector decision-making. This results in effective participation of marginalized groups in public life; successful interaction amongst government, civil society, informed citizens, and private sector actors; and accountable and capable governance at local, regional andnational levels.
- Environmental Stewardship - Enhanced disaster risk reduction through improved use of, and access to, appropriate information and new technologies. This results in communities that are organized, informed, and resilient to destabilizing events.
